Take the boat to Saint Gilles Croix de Vie. From the Sion campsite, it’s just 8 minutes. But allow a little more time for parking.
We recommend setting off in the morning to enjoy the peace and quiet on the island. In the afternoon, the flow of holidaymakers is greater.

The more adventurous and thrill-seeking can even take to the air to reach the island.

Where to park to take the boat in Saint Gilles Croix de Vie :

  • P1: Rue de la Rabalette (free parking 10 to 15 minutes’ walk from the landing stage)
  • P2 : Parking des Salines (Blue zone parking. Free parking from Sat 6 July to Sun 1 September)
  • P3 : Parking de la Douane (Blue zone parking 2h from 01/05 to 14/06 and from 16/09 to 30/09 + Pay parking from 15/06 to 15/09)

The crossing takes 60 minutes. Combine business with pleasure by visiting the island while enjoying a boat trip.
In high season, departures to the island are frequent, reservation required.

Discover the beauty of the island

In the distance, you’ll begin to see the island’s rocky coastline.
The closer you get, the more the contours take shape.
On the horizon, Port-Joinville becomes increasingly clear.
You can already make out the charming blue shutters.
For a complete immersion experience, we recommend visiting the island by bike.
With a surface area of 23 km², you’ll be able to discover more of this jewel in one day.
There are many bike rental companies in Port-Joinville, but remember to reserve your bike in advance.

Allow around 4h30 for a complete tour of the island.
You can follow the paths along the coast. You’ll enjoy a walk with the horizon as far as the eye can see.

The Vieux Château
You can’t come to Yeu Island without visiting the Vieux Château. This jewel of medieval architecture can be visited. From the top of the castle towers, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view.
Guided tour times: 11:00, 11:30, 12:00, 16:30, 17:00 and 17:30 daily in July and August.
Self-guided tours available between 13:30 and 16:00.

Anse des Soux beach
Small rocky cove with crystal-clear water. Put down your towel for a few minutes and admire the scenery. As you stroll along, you’ll discover numerous beaches, each more beautiful than the last.

Le Port la Meule
A small, unusual fishing port nestled between two cliffs, it embodies all the charm of this area. You’ll find a bar here for a well-deserved break.

La pointe de la Tranche
For a breathtaking panorama, head to the end of la pointe de la Tranche. It’s as if you were at the end of the world! You could stay there for hours, watching the ocean crash into the rocky coastline.

After this discovery-filled stroll, your legs (and not only your legs) will certainly need a break.

On the island, there are delicious restaurants that know how to cook local produce like real chefs.

  • Le 09: French cuisine to delight your taste buds
  • La crêperie Bleue: a must on the island
  • Les Fous Brassants: an unusual place where beer is brewed on site. The perfect place to sample new local flavors.
  • La Plancha du pêcheur: typical island restaurant: fish on the menu and ocean views

After this pleasant day, it’s time to take the boat back to the mainland. A final farewell to the island before returning to the calm of the Sion campsite.
