Ecomusée Le Daviaud – La Barre de Monts
In the open air, at the bend of a path, you’ll discover a natural environment rich in both flora and fauna. The eco-museum is housed in traditional buildings and features exhibitions on the environment and popular arts and traditions. Discover the natural and human history of the Marais Breton Vendéen on a 15-hectare site. You’ll find a working salt marsh (June to September), a farm and its animals, a vegetable garden and an ornithological observatory. Length of visit: 2 hours.

Le Moulin de Rairé – Sallertaine
Built in 1555, this seigniorial edifice is the only mill in France that has never stopped turning with the wind since its construction. Rejecting all folklore, the Burgaud family, descendants of a long line of flour-makers, continue to make this fascinating machine work in accordance with the techniques of yesteryear.

Château d’Apremont
This primitive fortified castle probably dates back to the 13th century and was built on a rocky promontory overlooking the Vallée de la Vie. Today’s two magnificent towers were part of a Renaissance château built in the first half of the 16th century by Philippe Chabot de Brion, Admiral of France and friend of King François1st, on the site of part of the medieval fortress.

Le Moulin des Gourmands – St Révérend
The Moulin du Père Aristide Praud was built in 1842. It was in operation until 1930, and was restored in 1997.
From the cereal field, join the miller to discover the working windmill, then be welcomed by the baker in his wood-fired oven.

Abbaye de l’Ile Chauvet – Bois de Cené
On an island in the middle of the marsh lies a 12th-century Benedictine abbey…
The Romanesque church, with its magnificent portal, opens onto the inner courtyard with its original well.
The monastery buildings and abbey church were damaged during the Hundred Years’ War in the 14th century and during the Wars of Religion in the 16th century.
This former monastery now boasts interesting architectural remains, including the Benedictine dormitory, kitchen, bread oven and cellar.

Musée des Traditions Populaires – Olonne sur Mer
The Musée des Traditions Populaires is housed in a former schoolhouse dating from the late 19th century. Here you’ll discover collections of furniture, everyday objects, costumes and headdresses, and antique tools that bear witness to the daily craft and maritime life of the rural population of Pays d’Olonne in the early 20th century. You’ll also find the atmosphere of a classroom, with its old school books and violet-ink inkwells. Finally, the 14-18 war is evoked through moving objects collected by an Olonnais man over decades.
